Insomnia Zine

This is a zine for the poem Insomnia by Elizabeth Bishop. I wanted to explore expressive typography through proximity and scale. Used both manipulated type and hand drawn type (front and back cover typography hand drawn) to create a more organic tone. The poem follows poet Elizabeth Bishop's trouble falling asleep and living in a dream-like state. Wanted the typography to mirror this feeling of sitting with your thoughts, spiraling at times, in those quiet moments right before one falls asleep. There are times when Bishop either repeats a word several times or seems to stand firm in her beliefs at certain points throughout the poem, I wanted these segments to have visible contrast from the spiraling, flowing moments.
